Unexpected Turn for García Ortiz: the Judge Makes a Crucial Decision in the Case
The judge emphasizes that García Ortiz forced him to conduct a much more advanced investigation
The case of the Attorney General remains the subject of a complex investigation that has led the judge to make a decision that changes the scenario for Álvaro García Ortiz. The judge extends the investigation into the Attorney General for obstruction in the Ayuso case by six months, which is not positive for the prosecutor.
Judge Ángel Hurtado decided this Wednesday to extend the investigation into the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, by six months. This is due to the difficulties arising from his lack of cooperation in the case investigating the possible data leak of the boyfriend of the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
According to the case instructor, the investigation has been hindered because García Ortiz allegedly deleted key information from his electronic devices. This has necessitated the use of alternative data recovery methods, a slower and more complex process.
In the order, the judge notes that, although the Attorney General cooperated during the search of his office on October 30, his subsequent attitude complicated matters. His actions have prevented the facts from being clarified. The deletion of data has necessitated advanced technological investigation, with the hope of recovering the lost information.

Additionally, the judge emphasizes that the progress of the case depends on the outcome of letters rogatory sent to Ireland. These are directed at technology companies that could restore WhatsApp messages and emails deleted by García Ortiz after the investigation was opened.
Hurtado considers it unlikely that the responses to these requests will arrive before March 24, the date on which the current deadline for the case expires. However, he warns that, depending on the data obtained, new proceedings may be necessary to fully clarify the facts.
