The Shameful Decision by the Prosecutor's Number Two That Benefits Eta Leaders
In his view, he believes that the facts are already time-barred.
The Prosecutor's Office intends to completely close the case of Miguel Ángel Blanco, the PP councilor murdered by ETA in 1997. More specifically, it wants the appeals filed by the People's Party and the popular accusations exercised by the association Dignity and Justice (DyJ) and the Villacisneros Foundation not to be admitted.
This was explained by Vozpópuli. The number two of the Attorney General (charged with an alleged case of breach of secrets), María Ángeles Sánchez Conde, has asked the Supreme Court not to reopen the case. In her view, she believes that the facts are already time-barred.

Sánchez Conde's position opposes that of the board of prosecutors of the Supreme Court's criminal section. Last February, it mostly supported the reopening of the 'Miguel Ángel Blanco case' by considering the appeals filed by the accusations valid. This decision clashed with the previous ruling of the National Court (AN), which had ordered the case to be archived, considering it time-barred.

Pro-ETA Demonstrations
The Basque left maintains its attitude of indifference toward the victims of terrorism by continuing to organize public acts of homage to ETA members, with frequent calls for their release.
Last February, the Collective of Victims of Terrorism (Covite) denounced several gatherings in different towns in the Basque Country, where the release of two ETA members convicted of murder was demanded.
One of these acts took place in the Achondo Valley (Biscay). There, pro-ETA sympathizers gathered to pay tribute to Dolores López Resina, alias "Lola." A member of ETA convicted of the murder of Antonio Ricondo Somoza, Eutimio Gómez Gómez, and Julia Ríos in Santander in 1992.
Gómez, a heating and gas technician at a hospital in Santander for almost two decades, was shot when returning home with his wife. Ricondo, who was driving in the opposite direction during the attack, died five days later. The explosion also left about twenty injured.
López Resina, considered one of ETA's bloodiest terrorists, was part of a commando responsible for several attacks during the 90s. This with a history that includes failed attacks and active participation in the organization's terror campaign.
The tribute was held just one day after the 33rd anniversary of the attack. This has rekindled the pain of the victims and their families. Participants displayed banners with the message: "The struggle is worth it," which has caused outrage among victim groups.
