Why Has Meloni Rejected the Proposal to Send Troops to Ukraine?
More specifically, he described it as 'ineffective' and too complex
Giorgia Meloni is on everyone's lips. At a summit of European leaders in London, the Prime Minister of Italy has urged seeking solutions that ensure stable peace in Ukraine and prevent an escalation of the conflict.
Meloni rejected the proposal from France and the United Kingdom to send European troops to Ukrainian territory. More specifically, she called it "ineffective" and too complex compared to other alternatives to solve the crisis.
This is confirmed by La Gaceta. After this, the Italian has called for calm following the tense confrontation between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. "It is essential not to be carried away by emotions, I understand the dismay, but we must move forward and focus on finding solutions," she explained.

"Italy, Europe, NATO, and the United States share the same goal: to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," the politician explained bluntly.
Additionally, she has expressed her concern about the possibility of the United States implementing new tariffs on European exports. According to the leader, such a measure would harm both Europe and the U.S., generating unnecessary trade tensions.
Meloni recalled that the Italian economy relies heavily on exports, so any restriction would have a strong impact. Furthermore, she warned that a response from the European Union could trigger an economic conflict that would not benefit either party.

She also explained her interest in ensuring the conflict doesn't reappear in the future. "We must ensure that any agreement is sustainable over time. Neither Ukraine, nor Europe, nor the United States can afford a fragile truce that could break at any moment."
