Vox will appeal to the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court against its exclusion from the Electoral Board

Vox has announced that it will file appeals in the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court after being excluded from the Central Electoral Board. This decision comes after the Congress Board appointed the five professors who will be part of the JEC, an organ with a mandate that expired more than a year ago.

The chosen ones were the two candidates proposed by PSOE, two from PP, and one backed by Sumar, with the support of ERC, Bildu, and BNG. The candidate promoted by Vox was left out of the selection.

According to the Congress Board's decision, it wasn't unanimous. PP supported Vox's candidate, but the majority of PSOE and Sumar rejected their candidacy.

PP's spokesperson in Congress, Miguel Tellado, encouraged Vox to take the case to court. According to Tellado, the president of Congress, Francina Armengol, along with the Socialist Party, "played a trick" on Santiago Abascal's party. Vox's exclusion from the JEC has caused tensions between the parties, reflecting the current polarization in Congress.

Vox argues that their exclusion is unfair and contrary to the principle of proportional representation. The party maintains that their presence in the JEC is legitimate due to their parliamentary representation. Additionally, they question the impartiality of the selection process, considering that the decision favors left-wing parties.

Vox's appeal to the Supreme Court will seek to annul the Congress Board's decision. Meanwhile, the appeal to the Constitutional Court will allege a violation of essential rights, especially concerning political representation and equal treatment.

The Central Electoral Board is a key body in overseeing electoral processes in Spain.
