Streets erupt over the charges looming against PSOE

Pedro Sánchez's PSOE is going through some of the most delicate moments. The indictment of Cristina Álvarez, Begoña Gómez's advisor in Moncloa, has been announced. This decision has been made by Juan Carlos Peinado, the judge investigating Begoña Gómez in the corruption case of the same name.

The indictment of her advisor is due to her alleged involvement in the dealings related to the chair at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). More specifically, there are four alleged crimes: influence peddling, corruption between individuals, professional intrusion, and embezzlement.

This has been confirmed by The Objective, which has had access to the order where the news is revealed. "It is agreed to direct the investigation against Cristina Álvarez Fernández as a possible participant in the investigated events, which could constitute a crime of influence peddling and a crime of business corruption."

Along with Álvarez's indictment are the new summonses to testify in the Koldo case, another case haunting Sánchez's PSOE. More specifically, the Supreme Court has decided to continue the investigation against the former Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, summoning him again to testify after receiving the request from Congress. It has also ordered a thorough analysis of his assets.

Judge Leopoldo Puente has scheduled José Luis Ábalos's appearance for next February 18 at 10:00 a.m. before the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court, as a person under investigation.

After his statement, the possible adoption of precautionary measures will be evaluated. Additionally, Carlos Moreno, cabinet chief of the Minister of Finance, has also been summoned.

The case, driven by a private complaint and under the supervision of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, investigates alleged crimes of criminal organization. In addition to money laundering, bribery, influence peddling, and tax fraud. All of them are related to emergency contracts awarded during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The judge has requested a detailed report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard on the financial situation of José Luis Ábalos and his son, Víctor Ábalos. This analysis should cover bank accounts, properties, vehicles, and company shares. Additionally, open sources should be consulted to identify possible links with assets or commercial companies.
