The Strange Movements of Begoña Gómez's Bank Accounts
These modifications were the reason why both accounts weren't mentioned in the first report.
Begoña Gómez is still behind the controversies. Pedro Sánchez's wife changed the numbering of the two bank accounts where she received payments from the Complutense University over a period of nine years, from 2014 to 2023.
This is confirmed by The Objective. On November 18, the bank of the investigated party delivered the first documentation to the investigating judge.
In it, according to the media, the IBANs of the deposits corresponding to the payments made by the Complutense University to Begoña Gómez were not included. That's why the information was considered "incomplete."
Faced with this, Peinado requested clarifications from the bank, given that, in addition, the nine accounts showed a balance of zero. Meanwhile, the accounts at Santander and ING barely totaled 40.25 euros at that time.
The payments made by the Complutense University to Begoña Gómez totaled 24,723 euros until 2022. They were deposited in an account ending in 3436 during all that time. However, in the 2022/23 period, a final payment of 15,000 euros was recorded in a different account, with the final numbering 2735.
The reason why both accounts were not mentioned in the first report is that Begoña requested a change in the numbering. This was when transferring the accounts to a new office located at Guabairo Street 34, in Carabanchel. This is confirmed by the newspaper.
In the second report sent to the magistrate, the entity informs the judge that two of Begoña Gómez's five accounts have undergone a change in numbering. Still, the document doesn't specify when this change was made. However, as the media points out, everything suggests it was after the last university payment in 2023.
The affected accounts, ending in 3436 and 2735, were used by the university to make the payments. Both were opened in 2004 and 1996, respectively.
Supposedly, the four digits of the branch of the two modified accounts have been altered. According to the media, these modifications coincide with a third account that was already active in the same branch since February 2021. Date when Begoña Gómez was working at the Complutense.
Additionally, these two modified accounts are the ones with the lowest balances among the seven existing ones, with 442.43 and 2,609.87 euros, respectively. Thus, they only surpass one account containing 234.19 euros, opened in March 2024, when the Koldo case broke out and the first information about its involvement began to appear.
