Why has Donald Trump fired Spanish chef José Andrés?
The President of the United States has announced the chef's dismissal
Chef José Andrés has no place for Donald Trump. The founder of the NGO World Central Kitchen will no longer hold the position he had as a presidential advisor on sports, exercise, and nutrition.
Trump, announcing the dismissal of the Spanish chef, stated: "Our first day in the White House isn't over."
The new president has stated that his team is reviewing nearly a thousand appointments from the previous president, Joe Biden. Among them was the Spaniard with American citizenship.
The reason for this dismissal is that José Andrés "isn't aligned with our vision of Make America Great Again."
On his account on the social network Truth Social, Trump clarified in a message the new process of identifying appointments. "The staff of the Presidential Personnel Office is active in the process of identifying and firing more than a thousand presidential nominees." He assures that "they aren't aligned" to "make America great again."
This way, he wanted his message to serve "as an official letter of dismissal" for four people, including José Andrés. Others affected include the former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Mark Milley, Brian Hook, former Trump advisor for Iran, and Keisha Lance Bottoms. "You're fired," he concluded.
Let's remember that the Spanish chef was named in March 2022 as co-chair of the U.S. President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition. Additionally, he received the highest civilian honor in the United States, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, from the hands of the now former president of the United States, Joe Biden, on January 5.
However, the controversies of José Andrés have been quite loud.
Chef José Andrés was photographed with the author of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump before the attack was committed.
José Andrés posed with Ryan Wesley Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump while he was playing golf at his residence in Mar-a-Lago.
Additionally, in 2019 he spoke out against Donald Trump:
"He creates fear as if the country were being attacked by immigrants when, in reality, they are the essence of the USA. What happens at the border is a humanitarian issue and not a national security one, nobody wants to invade the country."
The controversial photo was taken due to the affinity both show regarding the war between Ukraine and Russia. With dozens of Ukrainian flags behind them, they took a photo in which the chef pointed to the detainee for attempting to assassinate the Republican candidate.
