The Strong Accusation by Begoña Gómez's Advisor Against Judge Peinado
The investigation focuses on alleged crimes of influence peddling and corruption in businesses related to Begoña Gómez.
Cristina Álvarez, advisor to Begoña Gómez at La Moncloa, has challenged her indictment in a corruption case. The defense questions the decision of Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who had previously rejected changing her procedural status from witness to investigated.
The investigation focuses on alleged crimes of influence peddling and business corruption related to Begoña Gómez. The case covers various professional activities of Gómez from her residence at the Palacio de la Moncloa.
On December 20, Cristina Álvarez testified as a witness, confirming that she sent several emails related to Begoña Gómez's private activities. She explained that she was appointed to assist the president's wife in official and private matters.
On January 28, Judge Peinado decided to indict Álvarez for the mentioned crimes, summoning her to testify as an investigated person on February 28. This decision contrasts with that of January 9, when the judge had considered that there were not enough grounds to indict her.
Defense Appeal
Álvarez's defense has appealed the indictment, arguing that the judge used her testimony as a witness to indict her, which they consider a "trap." They also question the lack of motivation in the decision and the absence of clear indications of a crime.
According to a document from the Presidency of the Government, Álvarez performs immediate collaboration tasks, of a logistical and organizational nature, in the framework of attending to the president's wife. Her duties include managing the schedule, preparing attendance at meetings, and coordinating with protocol teams.

Upcoming Statements
On February 26, Álvarez is summoned to testify as an investigated person. That same day, Alfredo González Gómez, who proposed her appointment at La Moncloa, will appear as a witness.
Some accusations have requested Judge Peinado to provide better justification for Álvarez's indictment, fearing that the lack of reasoning could lead to its annulment. In January, the Provincial Court of Madrid annulled a search due to lack of foundation, which reinforces this request.
