This Is the Fortune Elon Musk Saves Taxpayers
U.S. cuts international programs and saves over half a million dollars in public spending
The United States Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has announced the cancellation of several projects funded with federal funds. This is an effort to optimize public spending and prioritize investment in national programs.
According to an official statement, the measures represent a savings of $729 million for taxpayers. They are part of a broader strategy aimed at improving resource management in the Administration.
Among the eliminated projects are initiatives such as the promotion of voluntary medical male circumcision in Mozambique ($10 million).

Additionally, it also includes the development of young entrepreneurs in Cambodia through the University of California at Berkeley ($9.7 million) and the funding of a gender equality and women's empowerment center ($40 million).
Funds allocated to strengthening the electoral process in Moldova and India, as well as to fiscal federalism in Nepal and social cohesion in Mali, have also been suspended.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and X, currently leads this department, which according to White House data, generates savings close to $1 billion daily. His focus on reducing spending on international programs and prioritizing the "America First" policy has had a significant impact on U.S. bureaucracy and its initiatives abroad.
Elon Musk Cuts Off Progressive Gravy Trains and Halts Money Waste
Elon Musk, now at the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency under Donald Trump's administration, has begun a series of federal cuts. The first of these moves is the closure of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This agency, founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, is responsible for a large portion of global humanitarian aid.
Musk, known for his leadership at Tesla and SpaceX, announced the measure during an online talk on X, the social network he owns. The conference also featured the participation of former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Senators Joni Ernst and Mike Lee. During the talk, Musk highlighted that the Trump administration is working on closing USAID, one of the largest agencies of the federal government.

USAID is responsible for a large portion of global humanitarian aid, covering areas such as health, drinking water, and energy security. In 2023, the agency provided a total of $72 billion in international assistance. This amount represents 42% of all humanitarian aid tracked by the United Nations in 2024.
However, Musk has made it clear that USAID's operation has been subject to criticism, especially from certain sectors that accuse the agency of working closely with the CIA. Despite its role in funding key projects such as hospitals in conflict zones and HIV/AIDS prevention, the agency has been seen as a tool of political intervention in countries with governments opposed to U.S. policies.
The closure of USAID represents a drastic change in U.S. foreign policy. Trump had already pushed the "America First" policy, which led to the freezing of much of foreign aid. This cut has caused reactions globally, especially in areas where U.S. humanitarian assistance is crucial.

The Trump administration, backed by Musk, has promised a thorough review of federal spending. Musk estimated that with these reforms, the reduction of the U.S. deficit could reach $1 trillion in the next fiscal year.
One of Musk's priorities has been to identify "foreign professional fraud networks." According to him, they are stealing large amounts of money from the federal government.
