Her name is Karla Sofía Gascón. She is a Spanish actress who is currently at one of the highest points in her professional career thanks to the movie Emilia Pérez. This is due to her nominations for the Oscars.
However, the actress is also in the news because of the viral tweets that have been known to be published by her. In them, she harshly criticized Islam and the community.
Through the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, Gascón made statements that haven't gone unnoticed.
"Islam is becoming a focus of infection for humanity that must be urgently cured." This is what one of the tweets published by the actress says.
When these messages that the woman promulgated became known, she decided to speak about it. More specifically, she wanted to wash her hands of it and reiterated that all those accusations she was receiving were causing her a lot of "pain."
"I want to acknowledge the conversation around my previous social media posts that have caused pain. I deeply regret having caused pain," she explained.
However, she is not alone in the controversy. The director of the movie that is giving her notoriety, Jacques Audiard, in a recent interview, spoke about Spanish. He said that "it is a language of emerging countries, of modest countries, of poor people and migrants."
These statements have caused a great stir and have been harshly criticized on social media. Additionally, they add to the controversial statements by Karla Sofía, who has expressed that "the greatest setback in rights is found in Islamism."
She commented on her personal experience saying: "Every time I go to pick up my daughter from school, I see more women with their hair covered and skirts down to their ankles. Maybe next year, instead of English, we'll have to teach Arabic... and sacrifice a lamb."
