Pablo Iglesias in desperation: 'soccer is a nest of fascists and sexists'
In an attempt to defend Jennifer Hermoso, Iglesias attacked the footballer Dani Carvajal
The former Vice President of the Government, Pablo Iglesias, continues to take advantage of spaces in state media to launch his exacerbated political propaganda. On Monday morning, in a program on Radio Nacional de España (RNE), the Podemos member attacked the Madridist Dani Carvajal and Spanish soccer in general.
The topic arose from the trial held this Monday for the controversial "peck" of the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, to the player Jennifer Hermoso. Iglesias defined Spanish soccer as "a nest of fascists and sexists," claiming that 'homosexuality in that sport is a taboo.'
But these comments from the Podemos member have their origin. It all stems from the fact that the players of the Spanish national team didn't speak in favor of Jennifer Hermoso's victim narrative. The same one that, after claiming on COPE that it had all been an anecdote, decided to denounce Rubiales and politicize the scandalous "kiss."

'Dani' Carvajal, an iconic figure of Real Madrid and an emblem of the Spanish national team, was chosen by Pablo Iglesias to be used as a negative example.
It's not true that all male players supported Jenni Hermoso; there were some who didn't. Dani Carvajal and many others took an ambiguous position, saying it wasn't a big deal.
But it didn't end there; the Podemos member, husband of Irene Montero, also said the following:
The values that this transmits are terrible. On Sundays when we go to play paddle tennis, I see people playing soccer and hear what parents say to eight-year-old children.
Unfortunately, professional soccer is a nest of fascists and sexists. The proof of this is that anyone who thinks differently and suddenly raises their head gets crushed.
With this, Iglesias tries, once again, to demonize anyone who doesn't follow his line of discourse. Despite the fact that such behavior is much more undemocratic and sectarian than what he criticizes in other figures.
