Óscar Puente Sparks Another Controversy: Insults Abascal and Accumulates a History of Attacks

Puente shared excerpts from an interview in which Abascal praised the 'chainsaw' of the Argentine Javier Milei

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, has lashed out at the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, on the social network X. Puente shared excerpts from an interview in which Abascal praised the "chainsaw" of the Argentine Javier Milei.

The minister commented: "He wants to be like Trump, but this parasite hasn't earned a paycheck from the private sector in his life". According to Puente, if Milei's "chainsaw," which Vox likes so much, were applied in Spain, "the first one to be cut would be him."

This is not the first time Puente has used social media to criticize his political opponents. On previous occasions, he has hurled insults and disqualifications against those who think differently or media that don't align with the government's discourse.

These attitudes have caused controversy and debates about the tone and form of political communication in Spain. Meanwhile, Santiago Abascal has replied on other occasions to criticism and insults on social media.

In April 2019, he called Albert Rivera a "liar" and "sick" in reply to an interview with the then-leader of Ciudadanos. This type of exchange highlights the growing tension and polarization in the Spanish political landscape. The use of insults and disqualifications in Spanish politics has been the subject of analysis and criticism from various sectors.

Some argue that this type of language contributes to tension and distances citizens from constructive political debate. Others consider it a reflection of the passion and commitment of politicians to their ideas.

Óscar Puente has defended his communicative style on several occasions. Arguing that he responds to previous attacks and that it is a way to confront "fake news" and misinformation. Which, according to him, proliferate in certain media and political sectors.

However, his detractors accuse him of contributing to a climate of confrontation and lack of respect in public debate. The relationship between politicians and the media has also been tense at times.

Puente has accused certain media of systematically attacking him and spreading biased or false information about his person and management. This situation has led to a broader debate about the role of the media in politics and the responsibility of politicians in their relationship with the press. In this context, it is relevant to mention that freedom of expression is an essential right in democracies
