The New Revelation That Corners Begoña Gómez About the Software She Denied Existing

Both Gómez's defense in the judicial instruction of the case and Ruano reject having the tool provided.

This past week concluded the investigation commission in the Assembly of the Community of Madrid regarding the chair directed by Begoña Gómez. However, it has advanced significantly, although leaving a growing enigma, the whereabouts of the technological project she was leading.

The same one that was supposed to be in the hands of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).

The revelation of the main companies involved has uncovered the controversy. They confirmed before the commission that they delivered the software in a digital folder they thought belonged to UCM, according to the testimonies obtained by the regional Assembly.

Meanwhile, the defense of Begoña Gómez, like the collaborator in the chair, José Miguel Ruano, claim that said software doesn't exist. Additionally, the Vice-Rector of Technology at UCM, Jorge Gómez Sanz, has stated that he has not been able to locate it.

José Antonio Martínez Aguilar, general director of Making Science, one of the companies participating in the development, explained:

"We delivered it in the directory enabled by Complutense, a space within the Google Cloud platform. Telefónica, Minsait (Indra) and Making Science, the companies in charge of developing the software, all deposited the material in that folder."

Meanwhile, the project manager at Indra, Amado Ramos, stated:

"Our goal was to achieve a minimum viable product in the software development. That's what we delivered."

He detailed that the team discussed the progress in weekly meetings with Blanca de Juan, secretary of the chair and a trusted person of Begoña Gómez. Also with Gómez herself.

According to him, the software was deposited in the mentioned folder, which, in his opinion, had been provided by the university.

The total value of the contributions from Telefónica, Indra, and Google to the project is approximately 300,000 euros, excluding VAT. This is derived from the agreement with the latest figures provided by the companies.

Begoña's Defense Denies the 'Software'

The truth is that both Gómez's defense in the judicial case and Ruano's in the commission have denied it. They deny having access to the software to deliver it to UCM, as the companies claim their donation was directed to the university.

"There is no software, and you can't deliver something that doesn't exist," Ruano replied to the Vice-Rector of Technology. He did so in a meeting held last October. In it, he expressed his frustration over the lack of access to this material to the newspaper EL MUNDO.

In line with Gómez's stance, Ruano reiterated in the Assembly commission that "there is no software as such. What exists is a technological project in development, which is approximately 80% complete and, in February or March 2024, was still in the testing phase."

Meanwhile, Blanca de Juan, secretary of the chair, adopted a more cautious stance in the Assembly. So much so that she avoided commenting on the platform, as the case is being investigated judicially.

The Vice-Rector of Technology insisted that he has not found either the software or the project. Nor the platform that was registered in the name of Begoña Gómez. Additionally, he refused to renew the domain of the platform that had been left free by her due to the lack of information.

However, everything seemed ready in the summer of 2023. According to the director of Making Science, the testing phase of the software successfully concluded on July 31, 2023.

Which led the company to consider its work for UCM finished. He clarified that their work focused on "the core of the platform."
