The New Request to the Supreme Court That Puts García Ortiz Against the Ropes
The Attorney General has a rough judicial path ahead.
The Attorney General's case continues to make headlines. Álvaro García Ortiz has been featured in the media due to the magnitude of the scandal surrounding him for the alleged leak of private data. This week, the Attorney General, who is close to PSOE, appeared in the Senate at the Investigation Commission seeking to clarify what happened with Álvaro García Ortiz.
Now, a new request from the Manos Limpias union puts the Attorney General against the ropes. Specifically, they are requesting a three-month extension in the investigation against the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, who is accused of alleged breach of confidentiality.

The request aims to complete pending proceedings. Among them, the processing of letters rogatory to obtain information from WhatsApp and Google to recover the chats deleted by the high-ranking official.
During the search of his office on Fortuny Street, the Civil Guard did not find messages on the seized devices. Manos Limpias estimates that the investigation will conclude on March 25, although they note that there are still proceedings scheduled until the 12th of that month and others pending execution.
In their statement, they warn that the letters rogatory could lead to new actions that would need to be incorporated within the investigation period.
The Key Step by UCO That Shakes García Ortiz
Civil Guard investigators have determined that the indicted prosecutor deleted key information from his mobile phone and also that García Ortiz allegedly disposed of some devices.
Judge Ángel Hurtado orders new proceedings to locate the discarded phones of the Attorney General. The Supreme Court magistrate continues the search for the missing communications of the State Attorney General. This is within the framework of the investigation for breach of confidentiality affecting Isabel Díaz Ayuso's boyfriend.
This Monday, he issued a new order indicating a new key step. In addition to not finding the WhatsApp messages or the emails required by the Civil Guard's UCO, the mobile devices that Álvaro García Ortiz discarded have also not appeared. This, after making terminal changes.

In this situation, and at the request of the Madrid president's partner, the judge has ordered new proceedings to try to recover those devices.
Specifically, he has requested the area in charge of mobile devices of the Ministries of Presidency, Justice, and Treasury to deliver García Ortiz's phones, particularly those he has returned since March 7, 2024. The date when the Attorney General's Office received the first report on the investigation for alleged tax crimes of Ayuso's boyfriend.
The magistrate asks that both Justice and Treasury provide the agents with the devices returned due to disuse or previous renewals, thus covering almost a year of terminal changes. This is not the first time an attempt has been made to clarify this matter. In January, Hurtado had already requested information from the IT section of the Attorney General's Office, but the response obtained did not solve his doubts.
