Podemos Assures That It Removed Monedero From His Activities After Receiving the Complaints
The purple formation received complaints against Monedero for sexual violence
The Monedero Case Continues to Resonate. It all dates back to September 2023 when Podemos received two complaints from women accusing Juan Carlos Monedero of episodes of sexual violence, according to EL MUNDO.
The information, first reported by Eldiario, revealed one of these testimonies presented against him. After learning of the accusations, the political party claims it acted immediately, removing its co-founder and former leader from any activity within the party.
At that time, Monedero was a member without a position in Podemos's leadership or any related structure. Since in May of that same year, he had left his position in the leadership of the Instituto República y Democracia, the foundation associated with the party.

Despite being removed from Podemos in 2023, Monedero continued working at Canal Red alongside Pablo Iglesias. A place where he hosted the program En la frontera.
It wasn't until the end of January 2024 that Iglesias decided to dispense with him. Not because of the accusations of sexual violence but because of his criticisms of the direction the party-linked television was taking, expressed in an interview with El Mundo.
According to the chronology of events provided by Podemos, in September 2023, the events unfold. Shortly after the general elections and in the midst of negotiations for the investiture, the party received an email denouncing Monedero's behavior. These "could constitute sexual violence" and requested that internal measures be taken.

From that moment, according to the newspaper EL MUNDO, the corresponding protocol was activated. The Commission of Guarantees was notified to proceed, given that Monedero was still a member. A confidential and secure channel was offered to the complainant so she could provide more details about the events.
However, the party claims it never received a response from the woman who had sent the message.
Errejón, the Other Podemos Case
The announcement of Íñigo Errejón's withdrawal from institutional politics caused a real stir, not only because of the surprise of his resignation. But also because of the complaints that have followed him on social media.
One of the most notable accusations comes from actress and television presenter Elisa Mouliaá. Who, through her Twitter account, reported being a victim of sexual harassment by the former Sumar deputy. This statement has added more tension to the situation, fueling the public debate about Errejón's actions.
So much so that Errejón had to testify before the judge as did Elisa Mouliaá.
