Mazón Announces Completion of the First Phase of the Recovery Plan

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has assured in the control session in Les Corts that the first phase of the Economic-Social Recovery Plan of the Valencian Community will be completed in less than a month. This phase has focused on assessing damage and analyzing needs after the recent floods. Subsequently, the planning of actions to be developed will begin and, finally, a system of control and monitoring will be established.

Mazón has emphasized the Consell's priority in reconstruction, allocating 1.8 billion euros and mobilizing historic resources. He has highlighted that the Generalitat has already paid 41% of the committed aid, in contrast to the 7.66% of the Government of Spain, which he criticized for its slowness in paying compensations. Additionally, he has denounced that while the Generalitat has granted more than 63,000 aids for damaged vehicles, the central government has only awarded 1,212 and conditioned them on the purchase of a new car.

Regarding infrastructure, Mazón has reported the repair of 18 regional roads, the launch of 57 health centers, the schooling of 48,000 students, the replacement of 90% of the metro and 100% of the tram, and the removal of more than 100,000 vehicles and half a million tons (450,000 metric tons) of waste.

The president has questioned the Government's lack of foresight before the flood, criticizing the delay in installing an alert system in the Poyo ravine despite its proven effectiveness. He has also denounced the lack of reaction in transportation and the Executive's veto on tax exemptions for those affected.

Meanwhile, Mazón has defended educational freedom, reminding that next week families will be able to choose the primary language in which their children study. He has accused Compromís of opposing this measure and of not having made proposals in four months for the reconstruction of the Community.
