Podemos's Hypocritical Silence This March 8

A party that strongly defends feminism and victims of sexual harassment will remain silent this March 8th

March 8, International Women's Day. This year, the feminist left returns to the streets to celebrate this day. However, after the controversies surrounding Podemos, the 'feminism' that the party defends is going through a period that is not going unnoticed.

However, it seems that, after the alleged sexual harassment, the party intends to act as if nothing has happened. In their view, women's rights face global threats. This has led the feminist movement in Spain to focus on the need for an "urgent response."

This year, the 8M Commission has chosen the slogan "Anti-Racist Feminists to the Streets, Our Lives Depend on It." It highlights the joint fight against racism and machismo.

This way, they will not talk about the alleged sexual harassment by one of Podemos's founders, Juan Carlos Monedero. The Student Delegation of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the Complutense University demands the implementation of preventive and precautionary measures.

This has been confirmed by Okdiario, which explains that the students seek to "remove this professor from teaching until the situation is clarified."

In a statement, the students have expressed their concern about the uncomfortable environment caused by his role as a professor. In particular, they have mentioned his alleged involvement in a case of sexual assault against a student.

They will also not talk about the Errejón case. In October 2023, Íñigo Errejón, another co-founder of the party, announced his resignation, ending his political career. Errejón's decision came after being involved in a case of alleged sexual harassment.

He was accused of having an aggressive and humiliating attitude toward women, including presenter and actress Elisa Mouiliáa, who accused him of sexual assault.

Mouiliáa detailed that Errejón used alarming expressions, such as "violently." She also claimed to have felt "intimidated," describing the incident as something that happened "without her consent."

That's why a party that so strongly defends feminism and victims of sexual harassment will remain silent this March 8. This is in light of the controversies that this party drags and that involve alleged sexual harassment of women.
