The Green Hydrogen Revolution
Joaquín Rodríguez, responsible for Moeve: 'It's an opportunity that will change the energy landscape of southern Europe'
The city of Huelva was once again the epicenter of a key event for the energy future of Spain and Europe. This by hosting the second edition of the National Green Hydrogen Congress.

Held between February 4 and 6 at the Casa Colón Congress Palace, the event not only highlighted the importance of renewable hydrogen in industrial decarbonization. It also emphasized the need to accelerate its development through close collaboration between the private sector and Public Administrations.
In this context, media coverage was crucial to give visibility to the most relevant debates and proposals. In that effort, EDATV and Informa Radio played a prominent role, with the participation of two of their top representatives: Javier Negre, president of the EDA group, and Javier García Isac, director of Informa Radio.
Both journalists and communicators were responsible for moderating and conducting interviews with the main protagonists of the Congress. Offering a deep and accessible analysis of the hottest topics in the sector.
The congress had the participation of more than 1,400 attendees, exceeding all expectations. In addition to the presence of relevant companies and entities both nationally and internationally.
MOEVE, an essential Role
Among the most prominent names of this edition, MOEVE, formerly known as Cepsa, took center stage due to its essential role in the creation of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley. In this regard, the interview with Joaquín Rodríguez Jadraque, head of Hydrogen & Clean Power at Moeve, was one of the most anticipated.

In his intervention, Rodríguez Jadraque highlighted the company's advances and its commitment to creating an infrastructure that allows Andalusia to establish itself as a leader in green hydrogen production in Europe.
We are facing a unique opportunity that will change the energy landscape of southern Europe. At Moeve, we are working to make the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley a reality, a project that will generate thousands of jobs and be key in the region's energy transition
Rodríguez Jadraque highlighted the company's significant advances in its decarbonization process. In his interview with Javier García Isac, director of Informa Radio, Rodríguez Jadraque detailed the timelines and key projects to achieve a more sustainable future.
"The project we are about to launch shortly, which is the first phase in Huelva, will feed a set of plants for different uses," he explained, emphasizing that one of the first objectives is "to partially decarbonize our traditional refining activities," which will allow "producing a series of gasolines, diesel, or kerosene with lower carbon content."
Additionally, the company is advancing in the construction of a biofuel plant that will supply maritime transport, along with a SAF plant for air transport, marking an important milestone in the sector's energy transition. "Moeve is also going to use a biofuel plant that is already under construction and will also supply maritime transport," Rodríguez Jadraque indicated.
In another significant step, the company is building a new plant to process second-generation animal oils and fats, expected to be operational in 2027, with a production capacity of up to 500,000 tons of biodiesel, intended for both maritime and road transport, as well as SAF for air transport.
There will be a next stage, which is methanol production, which will enter production between 2028 and 2029, and will also serve to directly supply maritime transport

But MOEVE was not the only highlighted entity. During the event, the mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, was interviewed by journalists from EDATV and Informa Radio, and she took the opportunity to highlight the city's importance in the decarbonization process and its goal of becoming a green benchmark at the European level.
Huelva has all the conditions to be the green city of southern Europe. From its port infrastructure to the hydrogen projects being promoted, we are committed to a sustainable future for our community
The Role of Ports
The relevance of ports, as part of the necessary infrastructure for the export of green hydrogen, was another topic discussed in depth during the Congress.
Gerardo Landaluce, president of the Port of Algeciras, and Alberto Santana, president of the Port of Huelva, participated in one of the most anticipated debate panels, where the essential role of ports in the decarbonization of maritime transport and the promotion of the hydrogen industry was discussed.
"The Port of Huelva is well-positioned to be one of the major players in the transport of green hydrogen in Europe. It is a key sector in our sustainability strategy, and we want to actively collaborate in its development," Santana highlighted.
Meanwhile, Jorge Paradela, Minister of Industry of the Junta de Andalucía, also participated in the event and highlighted the regional government's efforts to facilitate the implementation of green hydrogen projects.
Andalusia not only has the potential to lead the energy transition, but it is already taking the necessary steps to ensure that this transition becomes a reality as soon as possible

In addition to politicians and businessmen, representatives of international organizations were also given a voice, such as Víctor Jiménez, president of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, who offered his perspective on the importance of ports in the global energy transition.
"Ports will play a crucial role in the future of hydrogen. It is essential that we collaborate internationally to ensure that maritime corridors are prepared for the transport of renewable hydrogen," Jiménez stated.
Spain and Its Advances Within the Sector
The event also highlighted the advances in the creation of the Hydrogen Valleys Alliance, an initiative that brings together 16 renewable hydrogen valleys in Spain and aims to boost the production and distribution of green hydrogen in a coordinated manner.
During the program, Javier Brey, president of the Spanish Hydrogen Association and key in the advances, also participated. He emphasized the need to create a European framework that facilitates the expansion of this industry.
Green hydrogen has enormous potential to change the energy landscape of Europe, but we need a clear and competitive regulatory framework that facilitates its development
The II National Green Hydrogen Congress concluded with a focus on the future. Although the advances have been significant, experts agreed that it is necessary to continue working on infrastructure, demand creation, and collaboration between companies and Administrations so that green hydrogen becomes an essential piece of the global energy transition.
Through their coverage, EDATV and Informa Radio contributed to conveying to the public the most relevant conclusions and proposals, thus consolidating their commitment to quality information and in-depth analysis of the topics that will shape the energy future of Spain and Europe.
With the celebration of this Congress, Huelva reaffirms itself as a global reference in the green hydrogen revolution, and the joint work of institutions, companies, and media will be essential to making this promising energy future a reality.
