A Hard Blow to García Ortiz: The Supreme Court Rejects His Request to Postpone His Testimony

The Supreme Court decided not to postpone García Ortiz's statement as a defendant.

Supreme Court magistrate, Ángel Luis Hurtado, has decided to maintain the statements as defendants of the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz. Furthermore, the statement of the Provincial Prosecutor of Madrid, María Pilar Rodríguez, rejecting the postponement requests submitted by both, has been upheld.

García Ortiz's request to postpone his statement, scheduled for this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., was denied. The investigating judge also rejected the Attorney General's proposal to conduct preliminary proceedings before his appearance.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Prosecutor of Madrid, whose statement is scheduled for this Thursday, also failed to have her postponement request accepted, as established in the judicial resolution.

Both decisions underscore the magistrate's determination to proceed with the proceedings according to the previously established schedule, despite attempts by those involved to delay the appearances.

García Ortiz to testify this Wednesday before the Supreme Court regarding Ayuso's partner case

This Wednesday, the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, will appear before the Supreme Court as a suspect. The case under investigation involves the leak of information related to Alberto González Amador, the boyfriend of Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Evidence suggests that García Ortiz had a "significant involvement" in the leak, which has sparked considerable controversy in the judicial sphere. The investigation was prompted by reports from the UCO, which attribute a central role to the Attorney General. García Ortiz's statement comes a day after the Supreme Court considers the appeal against his renewal in office.

In 2022, the government renewed García Ortiz as Attorney General, but the Independent Professional Association of Prosecutors (APIF) filed an appeal. This appeal is being reviewed by the high court, adding tension to the already complex judicial landscape facing the Attorney General.

The case is related to the leak of confidential details about tax negotiations involving González Amador. González Amador's defense offered a deal in exchange for acknowledging tax offenses, which was later leaked by the newspaper *El Mundo*. The leak triggered a series of communications that, according to the judge, were orchestrated by García Ortiz, leveraging his position of power.

The case instructor, Ángel Hurtado, highlighted that the Attorney General played a key role in the dissemination of confidential information. On March 13, *El Mundo* published details about the leak, which triggered a frantic exchange of communications within the Prosecutor's Office. This exchange was managed by García Ortiz, who coordinated the actions of the prosecutors involved in the case, according to UCO reports.

Regarding Diego Villafañe, the number two of the Technical Secretariat of the Attorney General's Office, his statement is scheduled for February 5. This case has caused significant interest in the judicial field and could have serious repercussions for the image and future of García Ortiz.

The State Attorney General's Office is under intense scrutiny. García Ortiz's statement before the Supreme Court will be a key moment in the case.

The details of the leak continue to be analyzed, while the trial is expected to progress and the responsibilities of those involved are defined. This case highlights the importance of maintaining confidentiality in judicial processes and avoiding the abuse of power within the system.
