The critical situation in Benahavís following the accommodation of 360 illegal immigrants
Neighbors in the area have spoken with EDATV to report the situation they are experiencing.
The Government of Pedro Sánchez has sparked controversy with its latest decision to house 360 illegal immigrants in Benahavís. To provide shelter for the immigrants, the Government decided to accommodate them in a top-level hotel.
However, the situation has now become unsustainable. Residents of the area have contacted EDATV to share how life has changed since the arrival of the immigrants.
Residents of the area report that problems with illegal immigrants have existed for some time. Sources close to the area claim that there are Moroccan minors who "ride skateboards in the street, scratching cars." They have also reported being subjected to "taunts" by these immigrants.

The situation has reached such a critical point that a specific community reported, "they scratched 15 cars just because." These residents emphasize that, despite being in an area where tranquility is sought, it has disappeared since the arrival of illegal immigrants.
These residents point directly to the top-level hotel that has allowed and accepted to accommodate these immigrants who have disrupted the daily life of Benahavís residents.

The top-level hotel with a Spa in Benahavís where the Government houses 360 immigrants
Specifically, they have been transferred from the Canary Islands following the latest wave that landed on the island. They haven't been housed just anywhere; they have been placed in a 4-star hotel with a Spa and pool.
This is the Oh Nice Caledonia hotel in Benahavís.
The immigrants, of sub-Saharan origin, arrived at Málaga airport on two flights from Tenerife. The first group of 180 people arrived on Saturday, January 11, and the second at 2:00 PM the following day.
The arrival from the airport was carried out in four buses to the mentioned hotel, next to the El Paraíso urbanization in Estepona. They will be there temporarily until they are identified and subsequently distributed to different provinces.
This situation is part of an operation organized by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migrations of the Government of Spain. Despite having an expulsion order for entering the country illegally, the immigrants currently enjoy freedom of movement.
The top-level hotel where they are housed
The Oh Nice Caledonia was presented just over a year ago as a major investment by the multinational chain GHL Hoteles in Spain. This top-level complex features two pools, a spa, and a jacuzzi, as well as sea and mountain views, amenities that will now be available to the immigrants housed there, funded with public money.
These facilities are beyond the reach of many Spaniards, yet these 360 immigrants will enjoy them temporarily.
