The restaurants Casa Lola and La Tasca del Puerto have captivated FITUR attendees with a live demonstration of the preparation of the traditional arroz a banda, an emblematic dish of the fishermen from Grao de Castellón. This showcooking featured the participation of the mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco; the Councilor of Tourism, Arantxa Miralles; and the Councilor of Culture, María España, who emphasized the importance of gastronomy as a pillar of the city's tourist appeal.
A tribute to Castellón's culinary tradition
During the event, the chefs from Casa Lola and La Tasca del Puerto showcased to the public the ingredients and techniques that make arroz a banda unique, using fresh and local products from the coast of Castellón. Attendees enjoyed the full experience by tasting this iconic dish at the end of the demonstration.
Arantxa Miralles, Councilor of Tourism, highlighted:
“FITUR is the ideal stage to highlight the gastronomic richness of Castellón and promote our potential as a tourist destination. Events like this showcooking allow us to showcase the excellence of our local products and our culinary traditions.”

Miralles also highlighted the various initiatives of the Tourism Board to enhance local gastronomy, with a special emphasis on rice-based dishes, an essential element of Castellón's cuisine. Among these initiatives, she underscored the success of the International Arroz a Banda Competition, which in its second edition has solidified Castellón's projection as a gastronomic reference.
The councilor stated:
“The restaurants of Castellón are national and international benchmarks. Their contribution to tourism and their ability to represent our traditions make gastronomy a strategic pillar for the city's tourism development.”
