Ayuso Will Call Sánchez to Appear Before the Commission on the Begoña Gómez Case

The government of the President of the Community of Madrid puts Pedro Sánchez in check in the investigation of the chair

The Ayuso Government announces that they will call Pedro Sánchez to appear in the Madrid Assembly. He will do so in the last session of the investigation committee on Begoña Gómez's chair, which will be held next week.

It was the spokesperson for the PP in the Madrid Assembly, Carlos Díaz-Pache, who announced it this Monday. He indicated that his group will call the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to appear.

The announcement comes after weeks of uncertainty about whether the People's Party would call Sánchez, even as a possible witness on the lists of both the PP and Vox.

But finally, Díaz-Pache cleared up the uncertainty this Monday at the press conference following the Board of Spokespersons of the Assembly. An announcement that comes after Isabel Pérez Moñino's group tried to be the one to call Sánchez.

The intention of the parliamentary group led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso is for Sánchez to shed light. To clarify in his appearance "the irregularities that may have occurred in the creation of these programs and this extraordinary chair directed by his wife."

As Díaz-Pache indicated, "it's a shame" that the President of the Government will not attend the committee. According to him, because "he would surely be the person who could say the most about how these programs we are investigating were created."

Additionally, he criticized Sánchez, reminding him that "he doesn't respect democratic institutions."

He added:

"He doesn't respect the Senate, where he hasn't attended for months, he doesn't respect the Congress, he doesn't respect press conferences with questions. And, therefore, we understand that he won't respect a legislative assembly composed of the representatives of the people of Madrid either. Another display of his political cowardice."

Unexpected Turn for Begoña Gómez's Advisor: The Date of Her Statement Changed

The Moncloa advisor, Cristina Álvarez, who has recently been charged in the 'Begoña Gómez case,' was scheduled to testify as a defendant on February 28. However, the magistrate in charge of the case, Juan Carlos Peinado, decided to change the date of her statement.

Cristina Álvarez must appear in the Investigative Court No. 41 on February 26 at 9:30 in the morning, two days earlier than planned.

According to the order cited by Europa Press, the magistrate acknowledged that it was a mistake. Peinado mistakenly indicated "the day February 28 (...) with the correct day being February 26," the day of the interrogation of the Moncloa advisor. This is for the alleged crimes of influence peddling and business corruption.
