No One Expected This from Orange: A Customer Is Left Shaking After Checking Their Bill

Orange's image is deteriorated after what happened at one of the company's establishments became known

Orange has had to give public explanations after an incident that left a customer in shock. It all began in an Orange store in Ceuta. One of the employees committed a serious irregularity by contracting a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G mobile in another customer's name without their consent.

The company employee managed the acquisition of a state-of-the-art device. She contracted it at a monthly price of 49.59 euros for 30 months, totaling 1,487.70 euros. But the striking thing is that she did it in someone else's name.

This way, she achieved what she really intended. Her husband could enjoy the mobile without having to pay anything. The charges for this purchase were made on the affected customer's bill.

This type of maneuver was not only a direct deception toward the company. It also involved document forgery and the misuse of a customer's personal data from Orange. The mobile in question, which was delivered to the employee's partner, began to appear on the monthly bills of the true line holder.

He had no idea that he was being charged for a device he had neither requested nor received.

Orange's Image Tarnished

According to El Faro de Ceuta, the case went to court. The Criminal Court number 1 of Ceuta convicted the couple involved for the crimes of fraud and document forgery. Both defendants accepted a sentence of 6 months and 1 day in prison, in addition to a fine of 5 euros per day for 6 months.

However, the sentence did not end there. They will also have to jointly pay the civil liability for the total amount of the mobile purchase. That is, 1,487.70 euros.

This case is a clear example of how a small slip in an employee's behavior can severely harm the company. In this case, those responsible for the incident were identified and convicted, but the damage to Orange's reputation is already done.

The Impact on Orange's Image

These types of incidents are highly detrimental to companies like Orange. They affect not only user trust but also the public image of the company. Although the company has taken measures, customers fear that something similar could happen to them someday.

An incident like this demonstrates how important it is to properly verify customer identity. In addition to ensuring that transactions are not made in the name of third parties without their explicit consent. The consequences of not doing so can be disastrous, both legally and reputationally.
