The News Orange Customers Were Waiting For Has a Catch: It'll Have a Cost for You

Orange warns that users can now have the new router, although certain conditions must be met

Orange customers have been waiting for months for the arrival of the new Livebox 7 router. It is a device that promises to significantly improve WiFi connection quality, as it is compatible with WiFi 7 technology.

However, the news that many were eagerly awaiting has a catch. Although the router is finally available, not everything is as straightforward as they thought.

Until now, the Livebox 7 was only being delivered to new Orange customers who signed up with a plan. This left out existing customers who wanted to obtain the device. After several months of waiting, the company has confirmed that it will start offering it to its current customers as well, although under certain conditions.

Orange confirms the device is free

First of all, it is important to highlight that the router has no direct cost. This means you won't have to pay for the device itself. However, not everything will be so simple, as Orange has set a series of conditions to access this device.

They involve certain additional costs and a commitment from the user. One of the points that has surprised many is that the customer will have to pay the shipping costs. This cost will be 9.95 euros, a detail that might have altered the expectations of users who thought they would get the router for free.

Moreover, it won't be enough to just pay for the shipping to obtain it. Orange has also indicated that users who want the new router must commit to a 12-month contract. This means that, even if you get the router without paying for it, you must remain an Orange customer for another year.

This might not be so attractive for those who prefer to keep their freedom to switch operators.

No mass distribution for now

They confirm that the distribution campaign for the Livebox 7 has not started on a massive scale. Orange will be individually contacting its users to inform them of the device's availability. Therefore, not all current company customers will be able to access this router immediately.

If you are one of the customers interested in obtaining the new router, you should stay alert to the company's communications. You can contact them via phone at 1470 or through chat. If they confirm that you are entitled to the router, you will receive the device at your home within 48 hours.

However, if you are not one of the selected users, you will have to wait until they contact you. Or wait for Orange to expand the distribution campaign. In any case, the arrival of the Livebox 7 seems to be closer for the operator's customers.
