Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T confirm the worst: All of America trembles

The three major operators acknowledge that technological items will be affected by tariffs

Millions of Americans could see their phones become more expensive in the coming months. Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have confirmed that they will not absorb the additional cost resulting from the new tariffs on imports from China. The news has caused concern across the country, as this could directly impact consumers' wallets.

The measure originates from the tariff policies pushed during Donald Trump's administration. A new 145% tariff on certain products imported from China is already in place. Although smartphones have been temporarily excluded, the rest of the supply chain has not been as fortunate.

From electronic parts to network equipment, everything that makes the modern mobile world work is seeing a price increase. The carriers have been clear: that increase will not be covered by them. In other words, users will have to pay more for the services they use daily.

The major carriers distance themselves

Hans Vestberg, CEO of Verizon, was blunt about it. He made it clear that the company will not absorb the increase caused by the tariffs. "We are not going to cover drastic increases in taxes on phones; ultimately, that will affect the consumer," he stated.

In a similar vein, AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed himself. He admitted that if the tariffs are also applied, the company will have to find "creative ways" for the user to cope with the increase. This, according to experts, could translate into more expensive plans or higher down payments for new devices.

Meanwhile, Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, acknowledged that the situation is complicated. The company is already exploring options to mitigate the impact of the increase in logistics and distribution costs. But he made it clear that there are no quick or cheap solutions.

If the tariffs continue to expand, it will be the end customer who bears the consequences.

The sector will be severely affected

The tech industry has also been shaken. Major manufacturers like Apple are already reevaluating their production model. In fact, they plan to move part of their operations to countries like India by 2026.

The decision is largely in response to the increased cost of production in China due to these new levies. For now, exact figures of the increase that consumers might endure have not been confirmed. However, what is evident is that the telecommunications market in the United States is going through a period of uncertainty.

Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have sent a clear message: they will not absorb the economic impact of the tariffs. And this can only mean one thing for the millions of users across the country: tough times and higher bills.
