Surprise at AT&T: Customers can't believe their latest decision
AT&T shows its discontent over something that is happening too frequently in its stores in the United States
In the physical stores of AT&T, something is happening that has surprised both customers and the company's own officials. Some users have started tipping employees for providing good service.
Although the gesture may seem kind or even fair to those who strive in their work, this practice is generating a great debate. Especially within the company.
In many sectors, such as hospitality or transportation, giving a tip is common. It is a way to thank good service. However, at AT&T, this is not allowed, reports the portal Phone Arena.

The company's internal policy prohibits its employees from receiving personal payments or gifts from customers. That's why it's hard to understand that this trend is growing within the stores.
AT&T doesn't take this practice well
Some representatives of AT&T have shared their experiences. For example, a worker explained that, despite saying he couldn't accept the tip, the customer insisted so much that he eventually accepted it. Another commented that it was common for customers to want to give him something extra for solving a complicated problem.
There was even someone who revealed that, when he worked for AT&T, he used to receive tips frequently. Mainly because he was one of the favorites among customers.
What is concerning for the company is not only that a rule is broken. There is also fear that some employees might start expecting tips as part of their daily routine. Which could negatively affect the relationship with customers.

Even more so if it were to happen that a worker directly hinted that he would like to receive one. In fact, a user claimed that an employee openly asked him for a tip. Something that, according to AT&T's policies, should not happen under any circumstances.
Although many customers do it with good intentions, this type of action can put employees in a bind. It only takes a manager to see the situation and not like it, for the worker to have to give explanations. Or even face a sanction.
Clear message from AT&T
From the company and from many of its representatives, a clear message is insisted upon. It is not necessary to tip in AT&T stores. The staff is there to help you and offer you the best possible service as part of their job, not expecting an additional reward.
It is true that it is nice to know that there are customers who value the employees' effort so much as to want to reward it. But in this case, the best gesture you can have is to leave a good review or express gratitude with words.
