The Legislature de Valencia accelerates the repair of roads damaged by the DANA

Valencia, February 5, 2025.- The Legislature de Valencia has intensified repair work on provincial roads affected by the DANA, with emergency actions ranging from pavement recovery to slope stabilization and bridge reconstruction. The president of the institution, Vicent Mompó, has guaranteed that "all necessary resources will be allocated until the provincial network is completely restored."

The works began just 48 hours after the storm, with a deployment of technical teams that prioritized the most affected areas to restore connectivity in municipalities that were practically cut off. "Our priority is to ensure road safety and citizens' mobility," Mompó emphasized.

In parallel with the road repairs, 29 large structures, including bridges and culverts, that suffered significant structural damage are being rebuilt. The interventions include the stabilization of piles, abutments, decks, and drainage systems, as well as the installation of new containment systems.

Reme Mazzolari, Deputy for Roads and Vice President of the Legislature, highlighted that "the works are being carried out through emergency procedures, financed with treasury surpluses, without affecting the usual planning in the rest of the regions." This measure seeks to maintain territorial balance in the management of the provincial road network.

Most affected areas

The actions are mainly concentrated in Utiel-Requena, la Ribera, la Hoya de Buñol-Chiva, el Camp de Túria, and la Serranía. In Utiel-Requena, work is being done on the CV-391, CV-395, and CV-470, among others, with pavement and drainage rehabilitation works. In la Ribera, progress is being made in slope stabilization and ditch improvement on roads like the CV-522 and CV-543.

In la Hoya de Buñol-Chiva, one of the most affected areas, tasks are being carried out to protect slopes and repair shoulders on key roads like the CV-378 and CV-415. Meanwhile, in el Camp de Túria and la Serranía, the work focuses on ditch cleaning, slope stabilization, and the reconstruction of damaged infrastructures.

From the Legislature, they assure that the commitment is firm: "We won't stop until every road section is in optimal conditions for safe use," Mompó concluded.
