The Valencia Provincial Council Strengthens Its Role as an Effective Manager After the DANA
The provincial institution completes the first phase with 291 clean garages and takes on the disinfection of 53 additional ground floors.
The President of the Diputació de València, Vicent Mompó, has visited the municipality of Alaquàs along with the mayor, Toni Saura, to assess the progress of the sludge removal and cleaning work following the floods that affected the region. This visit has allowed for an evaluation of management that Mompó has described as "efficient and coordinated," highlighting the provincial institution's commitment to the affected municipalities.
Mompó has announced that the first phase of the emergency contract, which included the removal of stagnant water, sludge, vehicles, and debris in 291 locations, is practically completed, with only a basement in Catarroja remaining. "We have demonstrated that the Diputació de València is a useful institution, capable of providing a quick and effective reply in critical situations," he stated.
With the transition to the second phase, the Diputació now takes on the cleaning and disinfection of 53 additional ground floors, where the UME and firefighters previously intervened. "We are already working on 34 of them and in the coming days we will address the remaining ones," Mompó assured, emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuous and effective management.
The mayor of Alaquàs, Toni Saura, has expressed gratitude for the Diputació's involvement, highlighting not only the efficiency in cleaning garages but also the excellent coordination with the town councils. "Institutional collaboration has been key to addressing the specific needs of each municipality," Saura noted.
Since the beginning of the emergency, the device coordinated by the Diputació has managed to intervene in 97.3% of the assigned locations, establishing itself as an example of efficient public management. The forecast is to complete all actions before the end of the month, two weeks ahead of the established deadline.
This action reaffirms the role of the Diputació de València as an institution focused on practical management and direct support to municipalities, beyond sterile debates, with a focus on concrete results for the citizens.
