The Unknown Relationship Between the Sister of the Indicted Advisor and Begoña Gómez

Cristina Álvarez, advisor to Begoña Gómez in Moncloa and indicted by the justice system, continues to make headlines. This time, it's her sister who is caught up in the controversy. 

Esther Álvarez also maintains a close, professional relationship, at first glance, with Begoña Gómez. She appears as the coordinator of a UCM Chair: Begoña Gómez's. 

Everything traces back to the relationship between Begoña Gómez and her indicted advisor from Moncloa. 

Álvarez added that it was Begoña Gómez herself who suggested her appointment to take on secretarial duties, handling her personal affairs under the Presidency.

She also mentioned that she knew Begoña Gómez before she became an advisor in Moncloa. 

The relationship between the Prime Minister's wife and her now assistant goes back many years. It should be noted that she was assigned in 2018 as Director of Programs in the Presidency department.

The relationship between the two dates back to when they spent considerable time together at Inmark. This was a telemarketing company aimed at fundraising for non-governmental organizations.

According to 'Artículo 14', they coincided at Inmark for at least eight years. Cristina Álvarez, who remained with the company from 1996 to 2007, was Begoña Gómez's right-hand woman, who held the position of Director of Consulting in Commercial Outsourcing at Inmark.

However, when their paths seemed to diverge, Álvarez took on the role of Director of Commercial, Marketing, and Communication at the Institute of Business Executives (IDE-CESEM). Meanwhile, Begoña Gómez joined the Instituto de Empresa (IE), where she was in charge of the Africa Center. This academic stage would mark the beginning of her subsequent involvement with UCM.

It is then that the name of Esther Álvarez reappears. During her extended 10-year tenure at IDE-CESEM (2008-2018), Cristina Álvarez stopped working closely with Begoña Gómez. It was then that she began working with her sister Esther at the same center: Cristina as Commercial Director and Esther as Director of Studies.

It was from July 2023 that she began working at UCM as the coordinator of the Master's in Competitive Social Transformation.

In fact, Esther Álvarez was listed among the PP's witnesses. All within the framework of the investigation commission on the Complutense University as a former coordinator of the Master's in Competitive Social Transformation.

How much money did Complutense pay Begoña Gómez?

The public university certified payments amounting to 55,875 euros to Pedro Sánchez's wife. As revealed this Thursday, Begoña Gómez received the sum of money in different payments. These were adjusted to the editions of her master's programs.

Complutense decided to cancel Begoña Gómez's courses, indicted for several alleged crimes, due to the low number of enrolled students. In the Fundraising course, aimed at raising funds for NGOs, the best year reached eight students. Meanwhile, the second course of Competitive Social Transformation had better numbers, reaching up to 14 enrolled students.
