This is the public fortune that Catalonia allocates to a Moroccan NGO.

Seeks to 'improve services for the prevention, detection, and care of digital gender-based violence in Morocco'

Catalonia has been at the center of a new controversy. The Catalan Generalitat allocates a certain amount of public money to various NGOs belonging to foreign countries each year. More specifically, in one of the cases, it is an entity belonging to Morocco, to which the institution allocates 300,000 euros ($318,000) of public funds.

This has been confirmed by The Objective, which explains that it is an organization aiming to "improve the services of prevention, detection, and attention to digital gender-based violence in Morocco."

According to the mentioned media outlet, these aids, which exceed 24 million euros ($25.4 million) annually, have been distributed among different initiatives. One of them is the digital project carried out in Morocco, managed by the AIDA Association (Aid, Exchange, and Development). Of the funds allocated to this initiative, 95% (285,000 euros or $302,000) was invested in 2024, while the remaining 15%, equivalent to 15,000 euros ($15,900), is scheduled to be used in 2025.

The AIDA Association is dedicated, according to the media, to promoting comprehensive development and improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable communities. Its initiatives are not limited to Spain and Morocco but also extend to countries like Senegal, Cameroon, India, and Peru.

With the support of the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation, the Mundubat Foundation has supposedly obtained a grant of 300,000 euros ($318,000). This is to carry out another project in Palestine, under the title "Palestinian Rural Women Promote Sovereignty and Community Resilience in the Face of Occupation and Climate Change."

This initiative seeks to strengthen local communities against social and environmental challenges. For its development, the Foundation works in conjunction with the Association of Agroecological Producers of Catalonia and the Union of Agricultural Workers Committee (UAWC), an association that operates directly in this Middle Eastern region.

Supposedly, in 2024, 285,000 euros ($302,000), equivalent to 95% of the total aid, were allocated to support Palestinian rural women. These communities face difficulties arising from both the Israeli occupation and the impact of climate change. Despite the war, the funds had already been allocated with the purpose of mitigating the challenges affecting female agricultural workers in this region.

Additionally, the resolution includes other initiatives in Palestine focused on "climate and gender justice," specifically aimed at "rural women." In this context, supposedly, the Catalan Association for Peace has been the beneficiary of a grant of 499,995 euros ($529,000) to carry out one of these projects.
