This Is the Moncloa Position That Points to Bolaños in the 'begoña Gómez Case'

The man who received the list containing Begoña's advisor has pointed to the Minister of the Presidency

A new witness in the 'Begoña Gómez case' diverts attention of the investigation toward the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños. Last Wednesday, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado conducted new interrogations in the case of the wife of Pedro Sánchez, the President of the Government.

The case investigating the alleged irregularities surrounding Begoña Gómez, the wife of the President of the Government, added new key statements this Wednesday. On this occasion, a former high-ranking official of Moncloa appeared as a witness to explain the appointment process of an advisor investigated for her alleged involvement in private dealings.

Alfredo González Gómez, who was Deputy Secretary of the Presidency, stated that in 2018 he received a list with between 80 and 90 names of candidates to fill various positions in the Government. This was after Pedro Sánchez's arrival at Moncloa.

Cristina Álvarez was among the names, although he claimed he didn't know her previously nor could he specify who provided the list. Álvarez was hired as a program director in the Presidency but from the beginning performed duties as Begoña Gómez's personal secretary. She is currently under investigation for her alleged role in managing corporate sponsorships for a master's program at the Complutense University of Madrid linked to the president's wife.

During his testimony, González Gómez emphasized that his role was limited to conveying the proposals without making direct decisions on the appointments. When asked who his superior was at that time, he pointed to Félix Bolaños, the current Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts. He led the General Secretariat of the Presidency between 2018 and 2021.

One of the most talked-about moments of the interrogation occurred when the investigating judge, Juan Carlos Peinado, asked in the courtroom who Bolaños was. According to sources present, the question caused surprise and even provoked some laughter among the attendees.
