In the message, dated April 4, 2023, José Ramón Suárez Arias, head of Human Resources and Internal Affairs at the Legislature, contacts David Sánchez. This, to offer him help with documentation from the Portuguese Tax Authority.

"David, it's José Ramón. Jana passed me some of your documents from the Portuguese Tax Authority. What do you need? Best regards," he writes to the musician.

The next message, dated April 4, 2023, and with a subject that supposedly said "Tax Authority," consists of a brief reply from Sánchez. "Good afternoon, José Ramón. I'm forwarding you the documents."

According to the outlet, at the end of 2022, David Sánchez notified the Tax Agency that his tax residence was in Portugal. This despite working for the Legislature de Badajoz. In February 2023, David Sánchez acquired a mansion in the Portuguese town of Elvas, financed with a donation of 240,000 euros (approximately 264,555 dollars) made by his father days earlier.

This operation was carried out in the Community of Madrid. It allowed the musician's and the Prime Minister's father to benefit from a 99% tax exemption on the inheritance and donation tax, paying only 401 euros (approximately 442 dollars).

The judge's ruling

Judge Beatriz Biedma, who is behind the investigation that corners the musician David Sánchez, has issued a devastating ruling.

In the document, Judge Biedma states that "everything seems to indicate that the position was created to be assigned to Mr. Sánchez," she explains. Thus, emphasis is placed on "the unnecessary nature of his functions very soon, as it was not arranged for him to be replaced by another worker during his leave of absence and paternity leave."

This way, she would be suggesting that Sánchez's brother supposedly accessed his position at the Legislature de Badajoz through favoritism.

In addition, she points out that "the existing indications of criminality have been corroborated by the investigative proceedings already carried out." The judge theorizes that, from the beginning, there has been preferential treatment toward Sánchez's brother.
