This is the huge amount of money the Government spent on Franco's event

The government spent more than 60,000 euros on the first Franco event that was recently held.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, spent last Wednesday morning meeting with the scientific advisory committee of the "España en Libertad" project. This initiative aims to commemorate, through 100 events, the 50th anniversary of Francisco Franco's death.

Sánchez indicated that this anti-Franco crusade will be a central axis of his political action in 2025, linking Francoism with the "international far-right." "It can return," he warned during the inaugural event, held at the Reina Sofía Museum. It's important to note that the initiative comes amid numerous corruption scandals surrounding the family of the President of the Government.

The event, which was attended by more ministers than recent tributes like the funeral for the victims of the DANA, cost a fortune. It had a cost exceeding 64,000 euros, divided into six minor contracts. This contracting modality, allowed by the Public Sector Contracts Law, doesn't require the publication of the specifications, making it difficult to access the details of the awards.

Among the recorded expenses are:

11,918 euros for a video of archival images about the Spanish transition, awarded to Womack Communication Group.

13,630 euros for the rental of LED screens, contracted with Laser Audiovisuales.

7,350 euros for the production of a video with interviews, by Está Pasando Entertainment.

14,725 euros to Agencia EFE for the selection and use of photographs for the event, without specifying the exact number of images used.

The event also included a performance by the National Ballet of Spain, which cost 500 euros. The Government defends that the project seeks to promote debate on the democratic transition. Additionally, it highlights the values of freedom, although the contracting scheme has caused criticism for its lack of transparency.

The event, which lasted a little over an hour, has caused controversy not only because of its cost | Europa Press

The inaugural event of the "España en Libertad" project, held at the Reina Sofía Museum and promoted by the Government, reached a total cost of 64,730 euros, according to available data. To the previously identified expenses, an additional 16,607 euros were added. These were paid to Fazeta Producciones for the "technical and management services for the production" of the event.

One of the highlights was the performance by singer Jimena Amarillo, who performed a controversial version of Libertad sin ira, by Jarcha. However, no specific contract for this performance has been recorded on the Public Sector Contracting Platform. This suggests that her compensation might have been included in the budget awarded to Fazeta Producciones, although there is no official confirmation in this regard.

The event, which lasted just over an hour, has caused controversy not only for its cost but also for the division of the contracts into smaller parts. A practice that hinders transparency about the details of the contracted services.
