Pinto prepares for the new ambitious cleaning model

The Administrative Court of Public Procurement of the Community of Madrid has dismissed all appeals

Starting February 1, 2025, Pinto will experience a significant improvement in urban cleanliness. On that date, the new street cleaning and waste collection system will be implemented, a project that will involve a historic investment of more than 143 million euros, contributing to a cleaner and more well-maintained city. On the same day, the internalization of the gardening service through Aserpinto, a public company that will take on the responsibility of maintaining green spaces, will also take effect, thus fulfillling one of the commitments of the current municipal government.

This advancement comes after the Administrative Court of Public Procurement of the Community of Madrid dismissed all appeals filed against the implementation of the new service, which had stalled the process. This confirms the good work done by Pinto's City Council.

As a result of this decision, the municipality will end the extended 2013 contract, something previous governments failed to do, and will formalize the new agreement for the management of cleaning and waste services. Additionally, Aserpinto will handle gardening and the maintenance of green areas, and the model will come into effect on February 1, 2025.

The mayor of Pinto, Salomón Aguado, stated: "We always trusted in the excellent work of the City Council's technicians to make this new service model a reality. Despite the attempts by PSOE, Más Madrid, and Unidas Pinto-Podemos to block this process, we will finally achieve a clean and well-maintained city, as our residents deserve."

This new cleaning system will have an initial duration of ten years, with the possibility of extending it for five more years. It will involve hiring more staff with better working conditions and installing more than 500 new containers throughout the city. Additionally, more sweepers, pressure washers, winter-specialized vehicles like salt spreaders, and new trucks for work on streets and sidewalks will be acquired.

The recently approved collective agreement, which is already in effect and was unanimously ratified by the workers, is also one of the major improvements of the new model. This agreement, valid until 2029, includes significant advances in employees' working conditions, such as salary improvements based on those of the Madrid City Council, Monday to Friday workweeks, and optimized weekend services.

Fernando González, government spokesperson, emphasized the importance of this contract, highlighting the full collaboration of the unions and the labor agreement that will benefit both working conditions and the remuneration and hiring of new workers. "Aserpinto also regains gardening, which will allow us to return Pinto to the place it deserves," he stated.

In summary, the new cleaning model will not only transform the city in terms of cleanliness and maintenance but will also improve the quality of life for Pinto's residents, ensuring cleaner streets, better-maintained gardens, and the pride of living in a well-managed city, after years of inefficiency by previous left-wing governments.
