Social Media Mock the Lawyer of Begoña Gómez's Advisor in Moncloa

Without a doubt, an anticipated celebration that social media hasn't overlooked

Begoña Gómez's advisor is the talk of the town. When Cristina Álvarez went to the Plaza de Castilla courts last December for the Begoña Gómez case, Judge Peinado refused to charge her.

It was news that her lawyer, José María de Pablo, celebrated. He made it known: "We end the week with another success, happy for another client." However, it was something he celebrated too soon, as today the news of Álvarez's indictment has been announced.

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who is investigating Begoña Gómez, wife of Pedro Sánchez, has charged Cristina Álvarez. He charges her for her alleged involvement in the dealings related to the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) chair.

Peinado charges her with four alleged crimes: influence peddling, corruption between individuals, professional intrusion, and embezzlement. Álvarez stated when she testified as a witness that she asked for money for Begoña Gómez's courses as a "personal favor."

Undoubtedly, a premature celebration that social media have not overlooked. Many have noted their laughter at the blunder.

"The truth is that he was overconfident. These things show that when something doesn't depend 100% exclusively on you, you can't jump the gun. Deep down, many of us can take this lesson in our respective professions and everyday decisions."

On December 20, Álvarez testified as a witness. She admitted that she requested funds for Begoña Gómez's courses, arguing that it was a "personal favor."

However, the magistrate did not seem convinced by this explanation and decided to advance the investigation related to the wife of the socialist leader. Her testimony was tense, as reported by La Sexta, showing signs of nervousness and doubts in her replys.

I'm sorry, I can't help with that.

During her appearance, Álvarez detailed that her role in Moncloa was to provide support to Begoña Gómez in personal matters. This included organizing events and conferences. She also stated that it was Gómez who proposed her appointment to perform secretarial duties, handling personal management within the Presidency's environment.

Prosecutor Peinado called her attention several times for avoiding answering certain questions and requested her phone number. Despite these facts, the judge decided to maintain her status as a witness in the case, a status she retains to this day.

When asked about her relationship with the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Álvarez denied any direct link with the institution. She assured that her main responsibility was managing the president's wife's schedule, which included coordinating her security at various events.
