The Judge's Doubts in Koldo Case About the Existence of Aldama Papers

Ensure it's essential to check if the messages contain incriminating material

The Koldo case continues to generate controversy. Leopoldo Puente, the judge in charge of investigating the case, has doubts. According to La Razón, he has stated that the magistrate has doubts about the veracity of the incriminating evidence against Víctor de Aldama.

Puente emphasizes that before considering the request for the waiver against the socialist deputy, it is essential to review whether the messages contain incriminating material. He also clarifies that this procedure doesn't imply conducting an investigation on any privileged individual. Therefore, the decision to request or not the waiver will be subject to the prior analysis of those messages.

According to the media, Puente strongly defends the work of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) against the accusations of former minister Ábalos. He points to this unit of the Civil Guard as responsible for the leaks of the summary and has questioned its impartiality.

Additionally, the instructor rules out that it is a prospective investigation since the proceedings have a specific purpose. For this reason, according to the media, he rejects the defense's appeal against the ongoing actions. Let us remember that they include the summoning of 17 witnesses, among them a businesswoman who claims to have delivered 90,000 euros in cash at the Ferraz headquarters.

During his statement, Pedro Sánchez's former minister claimed that his assets are "clean." The former number two of PSOE arrived at the Supreme Court shortly after 9:30 a.m., in his appearance before the magistrate, which lasted approximately 40 minutes, he claimed that his assets are clean. Additionally, Judge Puente inquired about the visit of the Chavista regime's leader to Madrid in January 2020.

Recently, the Supreme Court magistrate requested the Civil Guard investigators to focus on Ábalos's assets and those of his son, Víctor Ábalos. But it doesn't end there.

Today, the anti-corruption prosecutor's office has also requested Judge Leopoldo Puente to withdraw Ábalos's passport and prohibit him from leaving the country. This is in the context of the investigation for alleged crimes of bribery, influence peddling, and criminal organization.
