Former Senior Officials From Moncloa Summoned to Testify in Ayuso's Boyfriend Case

The summons, signed by Magistrate Ángel Hurtado, affects Pilar Sánchez Acera and Francesc Vallés Vives.

The Supreme Court has summoned two former senior government officials to testify as part of the investigation into the leak involving Ayuso's partner.

The summons, signed by Judge Ángel Hurtado, affects Pilar Sánchez Acera, former director of the Secretary of State of the Presidential Cabinet, and Francesc Vallés Vives, former Secretary of State for Communication.

Both must appear on March 12 as witnesses in the case investigating the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, for a possible crime of revealing secrets.

The investigation focuses on the leak of an email from the lawyer of Alberto González Amador, the partner of the Madrid president, in which an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office was negotiated to avoid a trial for tax fraud. This document was published in March 2024 by the digital media El Plural, sparking a political storm.

The Route of the Leaked Email

According to judicial investigations, Sánchez Acera allegedly shared a screenshot of the email with Juan Lobato, leader of PSOE in Madrid, intending for the information to be used against Ayuso in the Madrid Assembly. Meanwhile, Vallés also allegedly intervened in the distribution chain of the document before its publication.

The judge has also requested the Civil Guard for information on the electronic devices of the Attorney General since June 2023 to analyze possible communications related to the leak.

In this regard, the investigation points to the possible involvement of other senior officials and government communication advisors, although they have not yet been summoned to testify.

The summons of these former senior Moncloa officials reinforces the hypothesis that the leak may have been orchestrated from the Executive, with political aims to damage the reputation of the Madrid president. Meanwhile, the defense of Álvaro García Ortiz denies any involvement in the events and assures that they will cooperate with the Justice to clarify what happened.

The statements of Sánchez Acera and Vallés will be key to determining responsibility for the dissemination of confidential information and its possible legal consequences. With this new development, the case continues to gain weight in the judicial and political sphere, putting the management of sensitive information by the government in the spotlight.
