Pp Summons Sánchez, Ribera, and Mazón to Senate Committee on Dana
PP has also included several government ministers in its list of speakers
The People's Party has decided to summon the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, to appear before the Senate's investigation committee on the management of the DANA that severely affected the Valencian Community. The committee seeks to clarify the actions of the different administrations during the catastrophe and evaluate the response to the emergency.
The PP has also included in its list of speakers Teresa Ribera, as well as several government ministers, Margarita Robles, Marlaska, Ángel Víctor Torres, and Pilar Alegría. Additionally, the Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, and the former Valencian President Ximo Puig have been summoned.
The PP spokesperson in the Senate, Miguel Tellado, has justified the inclusion of Carlos Mazón in the list. Emphasizing that the regional president himself requested to appear in any committee created to analyze the tragedy.
Tellado has highlighted Mazón's willingness to provide explanations. In contrast to what he considers a lack of transparency on the part of Pedro Sánchez's Government.

The objective of the committee is to analyze the circumstances and political responsibilities of the DANA management, evaluate the coordination between administrations, and propose measures to prevent future catastrophes. With its absolute majority in the Senate, the PP has the ability to set the agenda and decide which appearances will take place.
This initiative has caused criticism from the PSOE and other parliamentary groups. They consider that the Senate committee could overlap with the investigation already opened in the Congress of Deputies.
The Socialist spokesperson in the Upper House, Juan Espadas, has accused the PP of using the committee for partisan purposes. He has also called for better coordination to avoid duplications.

In addition to the political leaders, the PP has also proposed the appearance of technical experts, such as the head of AEMET in the Valencian Community. Likewise, the President of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation is summoned. The intention is to identify failures in the response to the crisis and propose solutions to improve future emergency management.
The investigation will focus on analyzing the effectiveness of action protocols, the speed of decision-making, and communication between administrations during the emergency. The appearances are expected to provide key information on crisis management and allow for the determination of possible political responsibilities.
