Tezanos and his CIS come to the rescue of Pedro Sánchez surrounded by corruption

The CIS report also shows growth for Vox, reaching 12.4% of voting intention, consolidating itself as the third political force.

The Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS), led by José Félix Tezanos, once again places PSOE as the leading political force in Spain.

According to the January barometer, the socialists would obtain 31.8% of the voting intention, maintaining a 2.1-point lead over Partido Popular, which stands at 29.7%.

This result, however, generates criticism due to growing suspicions about the impartiality of the CIS and its function under Pedro Sánchez's leadership.

A Narrow Lead That Raises Doubts

PSOE loses four-tenths compared to the December barometer but continues to lead the polls. Meanwhile, PP increases its support by 1.3 points, narrowing the gap with the socialists.

Despite this evolution, the CIS grants a strategic advantage to PSOE, a fact that, according to analysts, doesn't reflect the country's political reality.

Vox Grows while Sumar and Podemos Stagnate

The CIS report also shows growth for Vox, which reaches 12.4% of voting intention, consolidating itself as the third political force.

In contrast, Sumar fails to recover and remains at 6.5%, while Podemos continues to lose support, registering just 3.9%.

Corruption Scandals in the Socialist Environment

The barometer comes at a challenging time for Pedro Sánchez and PSOE. Various corruption cases have implicated key figures of the party and people close to the president, including his family. Investigations into alleged influence peddling and irregular contracts have intensified opposition criticism.

Besides the scandals affecting Sánchez's family circle, prominent members of the Government are also under scrutiny. The State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, faces investigations for alleged irregularities. This has led PP and Vox to accuse the Executive of interfering in the judicial system.

The CIS, Questioned for Its Impartiality

José Félix Tezanos, president of the CIS, has been accused multiple times of manipulating data from the surveys to favor PSOE.

The criticisms suggest that the barometer results are designed to reinforce the image of the ruling party. Even at times when public confidence is eroded by corruption scandals.

Both PP and Vox have harshly criticized the CIS, accusing it of acting as a political tool in service of PSOE. The opposition believes that the data doesn't reflect the true opinion of Spaniards. Especially in a context where the Government's reputation is compromised.

While the CIS shows a solid PSOE, the scandals surrounding Sánchez's family and members of his Government seem not to affect the results. This has led the opposition and various sectors of society to doubt the credibility of the surveys.
