The Suspected Pro-Russian Hacking of Spanish Institutions Following Support for Ukraine
In their statement, the pro-Russian hackers recalled that Pedro Sánchez's government presented a new aid package
The Government's New Headache: Hackers. The hacker collective NoName057, with sympathies toward Russia, has executed a coordinated attack against several public institution websites. It was in response to a recent package of support measures announced by Pedro Sánchez's Government.
This Friday morning, the portals of the Provincial Councils of Valencia, Cáceres, and Badajoz, as well as the City Councils of Mérida and Benavente in Zamora, were affected.

Through communication channels related to the group, NoName057 released their attack against these Spanish entities. They showed screenshots evidencing the blocking of the pages. According to this medium, these portals remained out of service due to a denial-of-service attack.
In their statement, the pro-Russian hackers recalled that, at the end of February, Pedro Sánchez's Government presented a new package. This included economic and military assistance directed at Volodymyr Zelensky's government. This measure, similar to those adopted by other European allies, seeks to mitigate the cuts imposed by Donald Trump's administration in the United States.

This is not the first attack of this kind launched by the NoName057 group against Spanish Government institutions. According to a recent report by the National Cryptologic Center (CCN-Cert), the CNI's cybersecurity body, the NoName057 group has been identified as "the most active in terms of attacks carried out." Highlighting their involvement in hundreds of DDoS attacks against targets in countries opposing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
