The investigated assets
The judge has requested a detailed report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard on the financial situation of Ábalos and his son, Víctor Ábalos. This analysis must include information on bank accounts, properties, vehicles, and company shares. In addition to consulting open sources to determine if they own or are linked to any assets or commercial companies.
Ábalos's statement
The former minister voluntarily testified in the case on December 12. During his appearance, it lasted for more than three hours. Ábalos denied before the judge having received commissions for awarding contracts to companies in his circle, as claimed by businessman Víctor de Aldama.
In his testimony, the former minister disclaimed any responsibility in the purchase of masks, attributing the management to his former advisor, Koldo García. To whom he would have delegated the search for this material in the early moments of the pandemic. Days later, he presented documentation to the Supreme Court to refute the commission agent's accusations.
Additionally, the judge has requested from the UCO a report based on telephone communications and other actions carried out to date. That involve the three investigated in the case: Ábalos, Koldo García, and Aldama.
