Sánchez's brother's strategy comes to light and puts him against the ropes

The investigation against Sánchez's brother intensifies

The investigation into the case of the Prime Minister's brother, David Sánchez, is intensifying and more information has been revealed. The connections between Pedro Sánchez's brother and La Moncloa are under investigation by the magistrate handling the case, Beatriz Biedma. However, the scandal also implicates another public entity, the Ministry of Finance.

Recently, a "suspicious" relationship between David Sánchez and some officials from the Tax Agency who collaborated with him has come to light. Senior officials from the Legislature de Badajoz, governed by the PSOE, allegedly facilitated administrative procedures for David Sánchez in relation to the Portuguese Treasury. This is according to an email intercepted by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.

In the message, dated April 4, 2023, José Ramón Suárez Arias, head of Human Resources and Internal Affairs of the Legislature, contacts David Sánchez. This is to offer him help with documentation from the Portuguese Treasury.

Suárez Arias wrote the following:

David, I'm José Ramón. Jana passed me some of your documents from the Portuguese Treasury. What do you need? Regards.

The musician's reply is brief.

Good afternoon, José Ramón. I'm forwarding the documents to you.

David Sánchez declared to the Tax Agency at the end of 2022 that his tax residence was in Portugal, despite his employment link with the Legislature de Badajoz.

Later, in February 2023, he acquired a residence in Elvas, Portugal, thanks to a donation of 240,000 euros (approximately 264,000 dollars) made by his father days earlier.

This operation, carried out in the Community of Madrid, was subject to a 99% tax exemption. This reduced the tax to only 401 euros (approximately 441 dollars). All of this, according to information published by the digital outlet OkDiario.

This is how Sánchez's brother inflated his CV to obtain a position in Badajoz

David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón allegedly used his participation in a festival in Japan as a merit to apply for the position of coordinator. This position allowed him to be in charge of the music conservatories of the Legislature de Badajoz.

In that event, organized by the Instituto Cervantes and funded with public funds, Sánchez presented a flamenco opera performed by Japanese artists and offered a brief lecture on Manuel de Falla.

The case documentation reveals that the musician included the program of the II Duende Film and Music Festival, held in Tokyo in 2012. This program was part of his merits within the file he submitted to apply for the position.

This event was funded by the Instituto Cervantes, which has raised suspicions about the use of public funds in his candidacy. Judge Beatriz de Biedma is analyzing whether this festival was truly a relevant merit or simply a maneuver to inflate his resume.

A selection process under suspicion

The position David Sánchez applied for was declared "unnecessary" by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.

However, he managed to prevail over ten other candidates after obtaining the highest score in a process evaluated by a tribunal composed of socialist officials.

His selection was based on the assessment of merits and a personal interview, where he stood out for his professional experience, qualifications, and commitment to the position.
