The wife of the President of the Government, Begoña Gómez, continues to be the subject of several judicial investigations after being charged with four alleged crimes. The wife of Pedro Sánchez allegedly took advantage of her access to the Government to facilitate grants to some companies, supposed irregular businesses that are currently being investigated by the Justice system.

Begoña Gómez was a promoter of several projects, among these is one that received more than 2 million euros (approximately 2.2 million dollars) from the State. According to the digital publication OkDiario, Begoña Gómez presented herself for years as "project promoter" of the Federation of Rural Women's Associations (Fademur). This is an organization that has received more than two million euros (approximately 2.2 million dollars) in grants from the Sánchez Government.

Both the socialist president and his wife have actively collaborated with this entity, supporting various events and projects promoted by it.

In 2020, Gómez represented Fademur during the Rural Tourism Competition organized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO). In that context, she was presented as an "expert in social impact and the third sector," in addition to her role as "project promoter at Fademur."

This initiative was supported by the Government. This, through the Ministry of Industry, and Google, which contributed 110,000 euros (approximately 121,000 dollars) to develop a platform for SMEs. Currently, Gómez faces charges for alleged crimes of embezzlement and intrusion related to that same platform.

This new twist in the case has put Fademur's activities and the governmental support the organization has received under scrutiny. As well as the role played by the president's wife in the projects promoted.

The serious statements pointing to Begoña Gómez and cornering her

Begoña Gómez finds herself in the midst of a new controversy. Allegedly, following some supposed statements given by witnesses in the Begoña Gómez case, Sánchez's wife faces a new headache.

More specifically, according to Okdiario, the mentioned statements revealed by the newspaper refer to the time Begoña worked at the Instituto de Empresa and the Complutense University.

Let's remember that Begoña attended the IE, where she was the director of the Africa Center. According to the newspaper, they point out that she presented herself there "once a week or every fifteen days."

Sonsoles Blanca Gil de Antuñano, director of Human Resources at this private university center, spoke during her appearance before the judge.
