The new key witness in the case of Sánchez's brother that the judge has summoned
The judge has also requested the contract of the official who advised David Sánchez on European funds.
Sánchez's brother is in the spotlight. New witnesses are putting David Sánchez on the ropes, especially after his controversial statement before Judge Biedma.
The truth is that on February 7, a new witness who could be key will have to appear. This is one of the candidates who competed with David Azagra for the position of coordinator of conservatory activities. Specifically, it is the first name on the official list of candidates, Nersés Avakimyán Gasparóv, who is currently a violin teacher at the Juan Vázquez professional music conservatory.
He won't be the only one who will have to appear and testify. Three officials from the Diputación de Badajoz are also called to testify on the same day as witnesses:
José Luis Albarrán, part of the Human Resources area. José Ramón Suárez Arias, also from the same area. Julián Expósito Talavera, currently assigned to the Directorate of the Area of Presidency and Institutional Relations.
It's important to remember that some candidates alleged irregularities in the tribunal responsible for evaluating the candidates. They claimed it was mainly composed of political figures and staff from the Diputación, "without music experts." They were also "suspicious" that David Sánchez achieved a 9 out of 10 while the next best score was a 7 without apparent reasons.
Specifically, Nersés Avakimyán scored a 6.5. Well, on February 7, he will have his opportunity before Judge Biedma to clarify what happened.
This is How a Moncloa Official 'advised' Sánchez's Brother in a 2022 Email
Sánchez's brother follows in the footsteps of Begoña Gómez. While the wife of the Prime Minister had a Moncloa advisor, Sánchez's brother acted similarly.
Specifically, David Sánchez contacted Luis María Carrero, a Moncloa official. He did so with the aim of having his operas funded with European funds.
The UCO found these emails in their investigation, and they confirm that the official advised Sánchez's brother. It's important to note that he had no connection with the Diputación de Badajoz.
Months after the relationship between the two began, Carrero requested to be transferred to the provincial corporation of Badajoz.
It's surprising how this official was on the edge at Moncloa, as indicated in the affectionate email to the "little brother." In fact, in 2022, he started his email like this: "I'm waiting to see if they kick me out of Moncloa this week."
However, the most notable aspect of this email is how he advised Sánchez's brother to apply for European funding for his projects.
"I'm sending you three little things related to what we've talked about these days." In addition to this, he provided the guidelines to follow: "Right now there are three budget calculations, and that can't be the case for what's coming in the next two weeks."
The entire conversation is under the context of the Operegrina program. This was a collaboration agreement that the Ministry of Culture signed with the Diputación de Badajoz on April 12, 2023. This program included the injection of European funds for the Office of Performing Arts, the entity directed by Sánchez's brother.
