Leganés's mayor decides to appear in the 'Koldo case'
He announced that it's an idea he will propose to the Board of Directors of the Municipal Land Company.
Leganés has made a decision. The popular mayor of the town, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, has decided to appear in the Koldo case.
This procedure is related to the awarding, carried out in the previous term, of a project to build 108 homes. These constructions for the company "Levantina, Ingeniería y Construcción" (LIC), are highlighted in this legal investigation. He has announced that it's an idea he will propose to the Board of Directors of the Municipal Land Company (EMSULE).
The mayor has informed the media that he will call an extraordinary meeting of the EMSULE Board of Directors. In this session, the participation of the public company in the so-called "Koldo case" will be prioritized. This is with the aim of protecting the economic interests of the citizens of Leganés.
In the last legislature, under the government of the Socialist Party, "Levantina, Ingeniería y Construcción" (LIC) was awarded the construction of 108 homes intended for the rental plan. This company is the main one highlighted in the investigated plot.
To clear up doubts, the mayor assured that the homes will be delivered. This is because this afternoon "the last financing" will be closed, ensuring the continuity of the works. He also conveyed reassurance to the beneficiaries of the municipal housing plan, emphasizing that this process won't be affected by the ongoing legal dispute.
EL AYUNTAMIENTO DE LEGANÉS SE PERSONARÁ EN EL 'CASO KOLDO'
The former mayor of Leganés, Santiago Llorente, from the PSOE, stated that Koldo García never had any relation with the Leganés City Council. These statements come after the PSOE denied any link with the plot, following the public revelation that the company LIC, awarded the homes, ended up bankrupt.
These homes are part of the Puerta de Fuenlabrada urban plan in Leganés, an area where the PSOE allocated land for rental housing. Before the 2023 elections, the area was visited by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
Due to the "suspicion that these apartments were at the center of the plot," as indicated by Delgado, the Leganés Plenary Investigation Commission will summon several people to testify. Among those called are Koldo García, who will have to explain his involvement, as well as the former mayor Santiago Llorente.
Also summoned are the EMSULE board members who, at the time, approved the awarding of the homes to LIC. Among them are the current PSOE spokesperson, Javier Márquez, former socialist councilors Elena Ayllón and Laura Oliva.
Joining them are the former spokespersons of Ciudadanos and Leganemos, Enrique Morago and Fran Muñoz, respectively. Morago was a government partner of the PSOE in the last years of the previous legislature.
