The wife of the Prime Minister, Begoña Gómez, remains in the crosshairs of Justice. This Monday, we've learned that despite the 'Begoña' law promoted by Pedro Sánchez, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado remains firm in the investigation of the head of the Executive's wife.
This time, Judge Peinado has focused on the companies related to Begoña Gómez and the controversial software for which there is also an open investigation against her. This week is crucial in the investigation into the alleged illicit businesses of the Prime Minister's wife.
This is because the judge is scrutinizing whether she may have engaged in embezzlement and professional intrusion. Alleged crimes committed in the use of software developed for the extraordinary chair she co-directed at the Complutense University.
Witnesses in the 'Begoña Gómez' Case Testify Again before the Judge
The Vice-Rector of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), José María Coello de Portugal, and his predecessor, Juan Carlos Doadrio, will appear again before Judge Juan Carlos Peinado. According to LaRazón, both could provide relevant information. This, regarding the creation and subsequent transfer of ownership of the Competitive Social Transformation chair's website.
The investigation focuses on clarifying why this website was initially registered in September 2022 by the coordinator of one of Begoña Gómez's master's programs. Months later, in July 2023, it was transferred to the name of the Prime Minister's wife. Additionally, her personal address was included in the domain registration.
Appearance of an Arsys Representative
The testimony of a representative from the company Arsys, responsible for managing the website's domain, is also scheduled. According to the investigations, Begoña Gómez stopped paying the annual service fee in March 2023. As a result, the site expired on September 20 after several failed attempts to charge a card linked to Sánchez's wife.
Suspicions of Intentional Deletion
The unified popular accusation, led by lawyer Javier María Pérez-Roldán, has warned the judge of the possibility that the disappearance of the website is a deliberate act. According to this hypothesis, the goal might have been to eliminate evidence that could point to irregularities in the case's management.
Indra Will Have to Provide Explanations
The technology company Indra will be questioned as part of an investigation into its involvement in the development of a software program commissioned by the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). The aforementioned media highlights the importance of the company clarifying why its participation in the project wasn't formalized at the start.
According to UCM records, Indra's collaboration was formalized through an addendum signed at the end of that same year. This, several months after the program's development began. This delay in formalizing the agreement is one of the key aspects investigators are seeking to clarify.
Indra's appearance adds to the judicial proceedings aimed at clarifying possible irregularities surrounding the university technology project.
