Monedero Attacks Vito Quiles After Being Asked About the Sexual Violence Accusation
Journalist Vito Quiles approached Monedero on the street to ask him about the case, but the former leader's response was to throw his microphone twice.
The former Podemos leader, Juan Carlos Monedero, was involved in a violent incident against EDATV journalist Vito Quiles by throwing a microphone at him twice. The incident occurred when the reporter asked him about a recent sexual violence accusation against him. The aggression reflects the tension the founder of Podemos is experiencing after his return to Spain from Venezuela.
Monedero, known for his feminist discourse and his role in founding Podemos, has recently been named in a sexual violence complaint. This contrasts with his party's narrative, which has presented itself as a bastion of feminism and the defense of women's rights. Despite the seriousness of the accusation, the former leader has not given public explanations and has reacted violently to press inquiries.

Journalist Vito Quiles approached Monedero on the street to ask him about the case. However, the former leader's response was to throw his microphone twice, trying to avoid any statement.
The incident was recorded and broadcast by EDATV. This has caused a wave of criticism against the founder of Podemos, who has repeatedly attacked media critical of his ideology.
Monedero recently returned to Spain after a period in Venezuela, where he was seen at events supporting Nicolás Maduro. His relationship with the Chavista regime has been controversial on several occasions, especially due to the subsidies and contracts he has received from the Venezuelan dictatorship.
Now, with a sexual violence complaint against him and after his violent reaction to the press, his political and media situation is further complicated.

Podemos Claims They Removed Monedero from Activities After Receiving Complaints
The Monedero case continues to make headlines. It all dates back to September 2023, when Podemos received two complaints from women accusing Juan Carlos Monedero of episodes of sexual violence, according to EL MUNDO.
The information, first reported by Eldiario, revealed one of these testimonies presented against him. After learning of the accusations, the political party claims they acted immediately by removing their co-founder and former leader from any activity within the party.
At that time, Monedero was a member without a position in Podemos's leadership or any related structure, as he had left his position at the Instituto República y Democracia's leadership in May of that same year.
Despite being removed from Podemos in 2023, Monedero continued working at Canal Red alongside Pablo Iglesias, where he hosted the program En la frontera.
It wasn't until the end of January 2024 that Iglesias decided to dispense with him, not because of the sexual violence accusations but due to his criticisms of the direction the party-linked television was taking, expressed in an interview with El Mundo.
