The luxurious hotel with a spa in Benahavís where the government houses 360 immigrants
While many Spaniards can't go on vacation, the Government offers a 4-star hotel to irregular migrants.
Pedro Sánchez's government has sparked a new controversy regarding immigration. The latest decision has been to accommodate 360 illegal immigrants in Benahavís.
Specifically, they have been transferred from the Canary Islands following the latest wave that landed on the island. However, they haven't been housed just anywhere; they've decided to place them in a 4-star hotel with a spa and pool.
This is the Oh Nice Caledonia hotel in Benahavís.
The immigrants, of sub-Saharan origin, arrived at Málaga airport on two flights from Tenerife. The first group of 180 people arrived on Saturday, January 11, and the second at 2:00 PM the following day.
The arrival from the airport was carried out in four buses to the mentioned hotel, next to the El Paraíso urbanization in Estepona. They will be there temporarily until they are identified and subsequently distributed to different provinces.
This situation is part of an operation organized by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration of the Spanish Government. Despite having an expulsion order for entering the country illegally, the immigrants currently enjoy freedom of movement.
The Luxurious Hotel Where They are Staying
The Oh Nice Caledonia was presented just over a year ago as a major investment by the multinational chain GHL Hotels in Spain. This top-level complex features two pools, a spa, and a jacuzzi. In addition to sea and mountain views, amenities that will now be available to the immigrants housed, funded with public money.
Facilities that are not accessible to many Spaniards, yet these 360 immigrants will enjoy them temporarily.
The National Police Expels 20 'high-risk' Immigrants
Illegal immigration remains a topic of conversation. The National Police has proceeded with the deportation of 20 foreign citizens identified as a significant threat. This is due to their extensive criminal record, which exceeds 200 accumulated arrests.
La Gaceta confirms this. These individuals, involved in serious crimes and with high recidivism, operated in different areas of the country, with a special concentration in Catalonia.
According to the media, the Central Repatriation Unit (UCR), along with the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders of Barcelona, organized the operation. To facilitate the expulsions, an exclusive flight was arranged, specifically managed for this purpose, which activated an extensive police and judicial deployment.
The procedure required close cooperation between various institutions. Judicial aspects related to open cases in different courts were managed.
Additionally, contact was established with the consulates of the countries of origin to complete the necessary documentation and make the expulsion effective. This meticulous organization allowed all legal and administrative procedures to be completed within the scheduled time.
The operation mobilized 38 agents and 16 vehicles, with personnel from various units. Notable are the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders of Barcelona and the border control at El Prat Airport.
The action began at the police facilities in Zona Franca, in Barcelona, from where the arrested were transferred to Madrid. At Barajas Airport, the UCR took custody of the foreigners to proceed with their deportation.
