The judge rejects Sánchez's brother's demands and maintains the investigation

David Sánchez requested that the investigation into his relationship with collaborators in the Performing Arts Office of the Legislature de Badajoz be dismissed.

Judge Beatriz Biedma, head of the Investigative Court number 3 of Badajoz, has dismissed the appeal filed by Sánchez's brother. In this appeal, David Sánchez requested that the investigation into his relationship with collaborators in the Performing Arts Office of the Badajoz Provincial Council be dismissed.

In her decision, the judge has confirmed the January 2025 order. In which the Badajoz Provincial Council was requested to deliver documentation regarding David Sánchez's collaborators: Ángel Seco López and Luis Carrero López. The latter, a former Moncloa advisor, has been a key figure in the controversy.

The judge points out that there are emails between David Sánchez and these collaborators. "Long before they appear in the organizational chart of the Culture, Sports, and Youth Delegation of the Badajoz Provincial Council." For this reason, she has requested more details about the creation and allocation of the positions in question.

In his appeal, David Sánchez argued that the order lacked motivation and specific indications to justify the investigation. However, the judge has replied that the criminal process doesn't always have an exact delimitation at the beginning. That the indications of a crime are a sufficient basis to open an investigation phase.

Additionally, during his statement as a suspect, David Sánchez mentioned that he worked with Ángel Seco. Although he couldn't specify his position, and that he shared an office with Luis Carrero. However, the judge emphasizes that both collaborators were incorporated into the organizational charts of the Badajoz Provincial Council "after the date they were already working" with David Sánchez.

The judge points out that the hiring of these collaborators "would constitute a further step aimed at satisfying the personal preferences" of David Sánchez. In her ruling, she asserts that "not only would the position have been created to his measure. But also, people of his trust would have been hired to assist him in performing them."

This ruling reinforces the investigation that seeks to clarify whether there were irregularities in the hiring at the Badajoz Provincial Council related to the president's brother. David Sánchez's defense has announced that they will appeal this decision, while Judge Beatriz Biedma continues with the case's instruction.
