Illa Kneels Again Before Independentism: Doctors Will Speak Catalan
This is to protect the so-called 'linguistic civil rights' in the healthcare field
Salvador Illa has once again taken a stance in favor of Catalan independence. More specifically, he has supported a resolution drafted by the CUP in Parliament, which called for healthcare professionals to speak Catalan to patients.
They requested that this occur in the "initial interactions." This is explained by Okdiario. Catalonia's Parliament, through its Health Commission, has approved a resolution urging the Illa-led Govern to adopt measures.
This is to protect the so-called "linguistic civil rights" in the healthcare field. The initiative, originally presented by the CUP, was modified with contributions from ERC and PSC, who ultimately supported the proposal. Only PP and Vox opposed the measure.

Additionally, the socialists have requested their own leader to update healthcare regulations. This is to ensure that healthcare professionals in training acquire full competence in the Catalan language.
The resolution endorsed by PSC calls on Illa's Govern to guarantee that patients receive both oral and written attention in Catalan. This measure would apply not only to healthcare personnel but also to administrative employees and social workers.
The socialists demand from their own administration that this linguistic attention be extended to nursing homes, social health centers, and all pediatric services. All according to the mentioned newspaper.

Support for Sexual Education in Kindergartens
Catalonia's Parliament approved an ERC motion that calls on the Generalitat government to include comprehensive sexual education in kindergartens. More specifically, as a mandatory subject in early childhood and primary education starting from the 2025-2026 school year.
This is explained by El Debate. The proposal was supported by the parliamentary group of PSC-Units, the Comunes, and the CUP, the republican's investiture partners.
Meanwhile, PP, Vox, and Aliança Catalana voted against it. ERC highlighted that this initiative is not new. The organizational decrees approved in 2022 and 2023 under Pere Aragonès's government already contemplated the inclusion of these contents in early childhood and basic education.
The organizational decree for the early childhood stage was approved during Pere Aragonès's mandate. It establishes "affective-sexual" education as one of the pedagogical pillars for children aged three to six years. It aims to promote "the development of individuals regardless of stereotypes and roles based on sex, sexual orientation, identity, or gender expression."
